Syngenta Crop Protection Swings Open Its Doors To Its Next Chapter Of Global Leadership From Greensboro
State, community leaders to gather for Grand Opening of expansion 4 years in the making
04 November 2024, USA: Syngenta Crop Protection, part of Syngenta Group and the United States’ No. 1 crop protection provider, is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new, $68 million state-of-the-art laboratory and office expansion at its North America Crop Protection Headquarters in Greensboro.
Syngenta will celebrate this major capital project and its commitment to the Greensboro community by hosting state, local and industry leaders for a special gathering with remarks today at 9 a.m. at 310 Swing Road, Greensboro, 27409 (see media schedule below). The new facilities include more than 220,000 square feet of new or renovated space, including upgrades to its 100,000-square-foot laboratory. Syngenta Crop Protection employs more than 700 people at the facility.
“Farmers all over the world must feed, clothe and fuel more people than ever before,” said Vern Hawkins, president of Syngenta Crop Protection North America. “The Greensboro-area team does important work helping American farmers protect their crops sustainably. This team remains committed to living and working in the Triad, and supporting community organizations that benefit our friends and neighbors.”
The Grand Opening comes after four years of collaboration among city, county, state and company leaders following Syngenta’s announcement in 2020 that it was reassessing the Swing Road campus. Syngenta leaders ultimately announced their decision to remain in Greensboro in 2021, breaking ground on the expansion located on their existing campus in March 2022.
“The Grand Opening of Syngenta’s North America Crop Protection Headquarters is a testament to the strength and potential of Greensboro as a hub for innovation,” said Greensboro Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brent Christensen. “Syngenta has long been a pillar of our community, and this state-of-the-art facility solidifies their commitment to the region and positions us as a leader in the agricultural technology sector. We’re excited to see how this investment in cutting-edge technology and talent will drive growth and collaboration, both locally and globally.”
Grand Opening speakers and other distinguished guests include the following: Christiansen; Hawkins; U.S. Rep. Kathy Manning (Greensboro); Shawn Harding, North Carolina Farm Bureau president; and a representative of U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (Mike Fenley).
