Nurture.farm became the first company in India to successfully generate and forward sell agricultural related carbon credits

11 May 2022, New Delhi: Nurture.farm, UPL’s digital platform for sustainable agriculture became the first company to successfully generate and forward sell agricultural-related carbon credits in India. 

The announcement was made in UPL’s financial result declaration for the fourth quarter of F22 (Jan-Mar 2022).

Carbon credit generation was made possible with nurture.farm’s Alternate Wetting and Drying & Dry Seeded Rice (AWD-DSR) project which covered 22,000 acres of paddy fields and involved over 2,500 smallholder farmers. 

The report mentions that the project helped save 15-30% in water consumption and generated 20,000 carbon credits. The final verification and credit generation is currently in progressAn email with queries sent to nurture.farm by Krishak Jagat remained unanswered till press time.
