ISO Provisionally Approves New Common Name “Trioxyflanilide” for Insecticide
10 February 2025, New Delhi: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has provisionally approved the common name “trioxyflanilide” for a meta-diamide insecticide developed by Zhejiang Udragon Pesticides and Chemicals Co. Ltd. The approval, granted on December 15, 2024, marks an important step in the product’s regulatory recognition.
The insecticide, known in Chinese as 氟溴虫酰胺, is identified by the chemical structure N-[3-[[[2-bromo-4-[1,2,2,2-tetrafluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl]-6-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino]carbonyl]-2-fluorophenyl]-4-fluoro-N-(2-methoxyethyl)benzamide with the CAS number 2922115-20-4. It was previously referred to under the development code SYN2971.
Stakeholders wishing to file objections—such as concerns over potential trademark conflicts—must submit them to the ISO Maintenance Agency by June 15, 2025. If no objections are raised, “trioxyflanilide” will be officially approved and included in the next edition of ISO 1750, which catalogs preferred and common pesticide names.
