ISO Officially Approves New Common Name “Fluquinometoate” for Bactericide
10 February 2025, New Delhi: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has officially approved the common name “fluquinometoate”for a quinolinone bactericide developed by Shandong United Pesticide Industry Co., Ltd. The approval, granted on January 4, 2025, follows the absence of any objections during the review period.
The bactericide, known in Chinese as 氟喹菌酯, is identified by the chemical structure 2-methoxyethyl 7-chloro-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylate with the CAS number 2408468-30-2. The product was previously referred to under the development code LH-363.
Since no objections were received, “fluquinometoate” has now been fully approved and will be included in the March 2025 update of the XML data set for ISO 1750:2023, the international standard for pesticide common names. This approval marks a significant step in the global recognition and potential commercialization of the bactericide.
