Insecticides (India) Limited Organizes Product Stewardship Day, Trains More Than 25,000 Farmers

22 February 2025, New Delhi: Insecticides (India) Limited (IIL) conducted pan India Product Stewardship Day on February 19th 2025. The initiative included 514 meetings pan India conducted by IIL in different geographies, where farmers and channel partners were explained about the safe and responsible use of crop protection chemicals and what precautions to be followed for using them were reiterated to them.

With over 25,000 farmers participation, the program was organized with an aim to reinforce responsible farming practices and support sustainable agricultural growth. Few meetings under this initiative were organized in association with KVKs (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) at their respective centers.

Crop protection solutions play a crucial role in enhancing productivity by safeguarding crops from different weeds, insect-pests and diseases. However, their application requires adherence to safety measures to prevent environmental harm and ensure users and public well-being.

The training sessions focused on critical best practices such as using the right dose at the right time with the right method and product, purchasing from authorized dealers after consulting the right advisor, reading leaflet instructions before use, and always wearing safety gear while spraying. Farmers were also guided on using the correct nozzle, spraying during early mornings or evenings instead of daytime, and ensuring crop protection products are stored in well-ventilated areas away from food and children.

Commenting on the endeavor, Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director, Insecticides (India) Limited, said, “Agriculture is the backbone of our nation, and empowering farmers with the right knowledge is essential for sustainable growth. Responsible use of crop protection solutions ensures not only higher yields but also safer food production and environmental balance. With this initiative, we aim to reach thousands of farmers, educating them on best practices in one day in addition to our regular safety programs just to highlight its importance. At IIL, we believe stewardship is a shared responsibility.
