FMC’s new herbicide bixlozone to be registered in China

17 August 2021, China: On July 9, 2021, the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (ICAMA) announced the list of new pesticide products to be approved for registration in the seventh batch in 2021. The 96% bixlozone prodrug and 36% bixlozone suspension registered by Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation (FMC Corporation) are listed.

Generic name: bixlozone; No. CAS: 81777-95-9; Molecular formula: C12H13Cl2NO2

 Bixlozone (development code: F9600) is an isoxaflutole herbicide developed by FMC Corporation. It is a selective preemergence treatment for a wide range of crops including fruit trees, vegetables, cotton, rice, wheat, corn and rapeseed to prevent and control the broadleaf and grass weeds.

Target markets for Bixlozone include Europe, the U.S., Brazil and Asia Pacific. FMC Corporation has submitted its registration application to Australia and also to the European Union, etc. It will be available in Australia in the winter planting season of 2021 (registration in April 2020) and in Europe in 2023.
