Dimethoate: An Insecticide for Controlling Pests in Agriculture

20 January 2025, New Delhi: Dimethoate is an organophosphorus insecticide used to control a wide range of pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and thrips. It works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase in insects’ nervous systems, leading to paralysis and death.

It is commonly used in fruit and vegetable crops.
