Dimethoate: A Patented Organophosphate for Systemic Pest Control

20 January 2025, New Delhi: Dimethoate is a systemic organophosphate insecticide used to control a variety of insect pests, including aphids, whiteflies, and leafhoppers. It works by inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase enzyme in insects, which leads to their death. Dimethoate is widely used in the protection of crops such as cotton, fruits, and vegetables. While effective at controlling pests, it is toxic to some beneficial organisms, so careful management is required.
