Chlorpyrifos: A Patented Organophosphate for Broad-Spectrum Pest Control

20 January 2025, New Delhi: Chlorpyrifos is a widely used organophosphate insecticide known for its broad-spectrum activity against a variety of pests, including termites, ants, and soil insects. It works by inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase enzyme in insects, leading to overstimulation and death. Chlorpyrifos is used on crops such as corn, wheat, and cotton, as well as in residential and public health pest control. It is effective in preventing damage from pests that would otherwise harm agricultural productivity.
