Budget 2025: Dhanuka Agritech Limited’s Expectations to Empower Indian Agriculture
21 January 2025, New Delhi: As the Union Budget 2025 approaches, the agricultural sector is abuzz with anticipation, hoping for transformative reforms that will strengthen India’s backbone – its farmers. Dhanuka Agritech Limited, a leading name in crop protection, has shared its perspective on the key priorities for the upcoming budget to address the pressing challenges faced by Indian agriculture.

Mr. M.K. Dhanuka, Chairman of Dhanuka Agritech Limited, emphasizes the need for decisive action to overcome the global pressures and domestic hurdles the sector currently faces. According to him, “The Union Budget 2025 is a pivotal opportunity to drive transformative advancements in Indian agriculture. The sector currently faces threats from global competitors with low prices while fighting challenges caused by climate change and a lack of resources.” He further highlights the importance of prioritizing rural infrastructure development, increasing access to credit for farmers, and supporting sustainable farming practices to ensure resilience and inclusion in the economy.
In 2024-25, the Ministry of Agriculture was allocated Rs 1,32,470 crore, which accounts for 2.7% of the total central government expenditure, reflecting a 5% increase over the revised estimate for 2023-24. While this increase signals progress, Mr. Dhanuka underscores the need for more significant investment in agricultural research to address the sector’s growing challenges. The current allocation, he notes, remains insufficient to unlock innovative solutions required to combat climate change, enhance resource management, and boost productivity.
The Chairman also points out the transformative potential of emerging agri-tech solutions, such as drones, AI, IoT, and satellite data, to modernize Indian farming practices. He emphasizes that the government must continue its agenda of modernizing rural livelihoods by fostering an environment where technological innovation thrives. At the same time, he stresses the need to improve irrigation systems, storage facilities, and farm-to-market supply chains, which are crucial for enhancing productivity and reducing post-harvest losses.
In addition to these measures, Mr. Dhanuka highlights the importance of rationalizing tax structures and offering export incentives to ensure price stability for agricultural products. Such steps, he believes, will bolster farmers’ profitability while strengthening India’s position in global markets. Furthermore, he calls for fiscal incentives to promote eco-friendly practices, such as organic farming and water conservation, positioning India as a leader in sustainable agriculture.
As the government prepares the Union Budget 2025-26, there is an opportunity to create a robust, inclusive, and future-proof agricultural ecosystem. Dhanuka Agritech Limited firmly believes that with the right policies and increased investment in critical areas, Indian agriculture can overcome global challenges, secure the livelihoods of millions of farmers, and emerge as a global leader in sustainable and innovative farming practices.
