Ukraine agriculture ministry bans fertiliser exports

15 March 2022, New Delhi: Ukraine is a major global producer of agricultural products. In a recent announcement, the agriculture ministry of Ukraine has banned exports of fertilisers from the country.

Before announcing the ban on fertilizer, Ukraine had already banned exports of some agricultural commodities and introduced licenses for wheat, corn and sunflower oil export.

The Ukraine Ministry of Agriculture said, “The ban is to maintain balance in the domestic market and applies to nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and complex fertilisers.

The spring farming season in Ukraine starts in late February to early March. Farmers  are planning to start sowing in safe areas as soon as they can.
