29 October 2022, AU: Rob’s career with Nutrien began in 2001 in Moree in northern NSW. He then moved back to his hometown of Coonamble to run the local store, going on to become the Central West division manager in 2008, regional manager in 2012 and managing director in early 2018.

The Nutrien Ag Solutions Australian business has grown in both scale and profitability by more than 200% during Rob’s leadership over the past five years. He supported the business through key change periods including the Ruralco acquisition, rebranding from Landmark to Nutrien and during the challenges associated with Covid.

“This business has and always will have a strong focus on safety and maximising the profitability, productivity and sustainability for Australian farmers. But one thing I am really proud of is how the industry and business has adapted our thinking to be more inclusive with a diverse range of talented professionals offering new, innovative and exciting ideas every day. There’s always going to be more work to do in this area, but I’m particularly keen to see the number of women working in agriculture continue to grow,” said Rob.

In Rob’s new role he will take on the leadership of Nutrien’s Loveland Products business globally, with a strong focus on leading the global strategic supplier relations, manufacturing, product portfolio and global customers strategy.

“This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the global strategy for supporting customers worldwide. I’m looking forward to bringing a truly international perspective to the table in North America and advocating for the needs of our customers and product supply chain. Given Nutrien’s competitive advantage in being able to secure product around the world, I want to make sure the supply chain reflects those benefits across the business.”

Kelly Freeman will take on the role of Managing Director for the Australian business at the start of November this year.

“This is not Kelly’s first time running a business, he’s been in very senior roles across the Nutrien organisation, most recently running the Canadian business for the past two years,” said Rob.

“Kelly brings valuable global expertise with him to Australia and I know he is looking forward to meeting our people and customers and continuing to focus on safety, digital, sustainability and proprietary.”

Rob said he is looking forward to staying connected to his Australian colleagues and customers in his new global role.

“It’s been a real privilege to lead the Australian business and work every day with such a passionate, talented and committed team of experts all focused on improving outcomes for our farmers,” said Rob.

“I want to acknowledge and thank every member of the business for their incredible support and friendship over the past two decades. I’m thrilled to continue my career with Nutrien and will continue to stay connected with the Australian business in my global role.

“I’ve said it before, but our people really are our best asset and what makes working at Nutrien so enjoyable. We all have an important role to play in feeding the world, the job will never be done as we continue to strive for stronger yields, higher results, more efficiencies and overall success for our farmers,” said Rob.
