IFFCO Reports ₹3,811 Crore Profit in FY 2024-25, Nano Fertilizer Sales Increase by 47%
30 May 2025, New Delhi: The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) has reported a profit before tax of ₹3,811 crore for the financial year 2024-25. This marks the third consecutive year of profits exceeding ₹3,000 crore. The cooperative also reported a 47 percent increase in the sale of nano fertilizers compared to the previous year.
IFFCO recorded total sales of 365.09 lakh bottles of nano fertilizers in FY 2024-25, up from 248.95 lakh bottles sold in FY 2023-24. This growth in sales contributed to a turnover of ₹41,244 crore for the year. Nano Urea Plus (Liquid) accounted for 268 lakh bottles, while Nano DAP (Liquid) accounted for 97 lakh bottles. This reflects a 31 percent increase in Nano Urea Plus and a 118 percent increase in Nano DAP sales year-on-year. The overall volume sold is equivalent to 12 lakh metric tonnes of conventional urea and 4.85 lakh metric tonnes of conventional DAP.
New Product Launches and Technology Integration
IFFCO has announced plans to launch new products, including Nano NPK fertilizer in granular form for soil application and Nano Zinc and Nano Copper in liquid form in 100ml bottles. The Nano NPK will contain magnesium, sulphur, zinc, and copper, and aims to support crop productivity and reduce nutrient losses. According to Dr. U. S. Awasthi, Managing Director of IFFCO, these nano fertilizers, in combination with existing liquid nano products, are expected to reduce dependency on traditional chemical fertilizers and promote efficient nutrient management.
IFFCO is also incorporating drone technology and artificial intelligence in its operations. The organization distributed over 2.5 lakh sprayers and procured 1,764 agri-drones and electric three-wheelers to support nano fertilizer application. Training was provided to rural entrepreneurs to enable delivery of these services to farmers. Countries including Brazil, Kenya, and the United States have expressed interest in adopting IFFCO’s nano fertilizer technology.
Performance in Other Product Categories
IFFCO reported increased sales across various fertilizer segments. Water-soluble fertilizers and specialty fertilizers recorded sales of 1.30 lakh metric tonnes, which is 2 percent higher than the previous year. Sagarika Liquid saw sales of 11.55 lakh litres, a 33 percent increase, while Sagarika Granules reached 68,000 metric tonnes, representing a 28 percent rise. Sales of bio-fertilizers reached 8.61 lakh litres, up 35 percent from the previous year.
Recognition and Expansion Plans
IFFCO honoured two cooperators with annual awards for their contributions to the cooperative movement. Shri Mansinhbhai Kalyanjibhai Patel of Gujarat received the ‘IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna Award’, and Shri Amrik Singh of Haryana was presented with the ‘IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu Award’ for the year 2023-24. Both have played key roles at the grassroots level in strengthening the cooperative network in their respective regions.
As part of its expansion strategy, IFFCO is establishing a Seed Innovation Centre at its Kalol unit, aimed at preserving indigenous seed varieties and supporting innovation in seed development.
Field Trials, Model Clusters, and Global Presence
During the year, IFFCO initiated the “Model Nano Village/Clusters Project” covering 203 village clusters, each spanning 2,000 acres, to demonstrate the use of nano fertilizers. Over 90,000 farmers registered on the Nano Village Portal, and approximately 5.30 lakh bottles of nano fertilizers and Sagarika products were purchased. Around 72,000 acres were covered using agri-drones under this initiative. The project led to a 28.73 percent reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers and a 5.8 percent increase in crop yield.
IFFCO also conducted zone-wise field trials across 15 agro-climatic zones under the guidance of the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. A total of 1,470 two-plot demonstrations were undertaken—200 for Nano Urea Plus and 1,270 for Nano DAP. The trials recorded an average yield increase of over 5 percent compared to traditional fertilizer practices.
IFFCO is currently ranked as the world’s top cooperative in terms of contribution to GDP by the World Cooperative Monitor, a report published by EURICSE and the International Cooperative Alliance. It operates 10 manufacturing units and has a network of over 35,600 cooperative societies and 500 field offices across 21 states in India, serving more than 5 crore farmers. Internationally, IFFCO has expanded its footprint to over 40 countries.
Managing Director Dr. U. S. Awasthi was recently conferred with the ‘Rochdale Pioneers Award’ at the ICA 2024 Conference in New Delhi. He was also recognized as the ‘Fertiliser Man of India’ by Sahkar Bharati for his long-term contributions to the sector.
