Experienced Agronomist Jed Brenner Teams Up with Meristem Crop Performance
…Brenner Becomes Senior Sales Representative Serving Farmers in Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado.
25 September 2024, Kansas: Kansas agronomic professional Jed Brenner has joined Meristem Crop Performance, one of the fastest-growing crop input suppliers in America. Brenner is now applying his skills as a senior sales representative for Meristem in Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado.
“We continue to gain traction with our innovative products and see more and more farmers benefit from using them in every pass they make across the field,” said Mitch Eviston, Meristem founder and CEO in announcing the hire. “Jed is another great addition to our team of all-stars in the Great Plains and it will be exciting to see him carry our growing line of high-quality products to more farmers there.”
“Meristem is an innovative bunch and they are changing this industry for the better,” said Brenner, “and I want to work with people who are always striving to be on the leading edge of continuous improvement in meeting the needs of farmers.” As Brenner’s first crop season with Meristem approaches harvest, he says he clearly saw the impact of their products in mitigating plant stress.
“It’s been a tough year out here in terms of heat and lack of moisture and the use of these biologicals is the difference between a crop to harvest or a burned-up field with no grain worth harvesting at all,” he says. Fields where they used REVLINE® HOPPER THROTTLE™ got a fast start and built big roots, he says, and could better deal with bad conditions as they occurred.
Brenner comes to Meristem from Innvictus Bio-Science, where he was senior account manager serving farmers in a big territory including Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Wyoming. “Yes, I guess I covered a lot of ground,” he smiles. “I saw many different operations and I learned a lot about how biologicals interact with nutrients already in the ground and how they can make more of what’s already there available to the plant. All of that experience will help me in bringing Meristem’s wider product portfolio to more farmers.”
Brenner has been involved in agriculture his entire life, growing up on a farm and ranch operation near Pratt, Kansas, where he “was involved in all operations and aspects of the business, such has caring for cow-calf operation, wheat production and pasture and feedlots. He and his wife Chelsie recently renovated the family farmhouse and now operate a cow-calf operation with the help of their children: Payton, Lakin, Aiden, Briley and Brekklyn.
“I’m a believer in bringing more innovation to crop production – when we are able to raise healthier plants, it makes for a healthier crops, healthier animals and more health across the whole system. I love the approach of using products that can make those nutrients you already have available to the next crop.” Brenner says in order to gain better results, farmers have to be willing to try something new and evaluate the outcome. “I do believe the most expensive words in farming are “that’s the way we’ve always done it,” he says. “You can’t just do things the same old way and expect better results.”
