AlgaEnergy participates in Biospain 2021

The company actively participates in this benchmark event in the biotechnology sector, which it also supports as a prominent sponsor.

23 September 2021, Spain: AlgaEnergy will actively participate in Biospain 2021, a benchmark event in the Spanish biotechnology sector, an event that, according to data from the latest edition, attracted more than 1,500 professionals from 800 companies coming from 30 countries around the world. These figures also place it as one of the largest biotechnology events in Europe. Organized by the Spanish Bioindustry Association (Asebio), the Government of Navarra and SODENA, this 10th edition will take place from the 29th of September to the 1st of October in Pamplona.

AlgaEnergy, which is a prominent sponsor of the event, has been invited to participate in three sessions of the agenda. On the one hand, María Segura, Deputy General Manager and Technical Director of AlgaEnergy, will participate in the round tables ‘Bioproducts: paving the way for a sustainable planet’ and ‘Farm to fork: challenges & opportunities’.

In the first one, moderated by the renowned agri-food journalist César Marcos, it will discuss how the ‘Farm to Fork’ Strategy can be a transformative tool for the agri-food industry and for society in general, highlighting the challenges that must be overcome in the process of its implementation. In the second round table, moderated by Inés del Campo, Senior R&D Engineer at the National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain (CENER), it will address how bioproducts have the potential to use natural resources in a sustainable way, reducing the dependence on fossil fuels, protecting the environment, ensuring food security and maintaining competitiveness.

On the other hand, Segura has been invited to moderate the round table ‘Getting involved in the European Climate Pact’. With the participation of representatives from Repsol, Grupo Cajamar, National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain (CENER) and the Valencia Regional Government. It will discuss how different agents from the business, scientific, educational and financial fields work to increase the sustainability of our country.

Biospain 2021 will also have an exhibition space where companies, R&I centers and organizations can show their activities and innovations. With a virtual format, AlgaEnergy’s stand will feature the technology developed by the biotechnology company for the cultivation of microalgae, with whose biomass the company develops solutions for very diverse sectors such as agriculture, nutrition and cosmetics, among many others.

The Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana Mendez, and the President of AseBio, Ana Polanco, will be in charge of inaugurating Biospain 2021. Posteriorly, the event will be closed by the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant.
