24 March 2025, New Delhi: The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI) is set to host a workshop titled “Sustainable Horticulture Practices Amid Climate Change” at the CSSRI, Karnal, New Auditorium to address the increasing challenges of climate change, soil degradation, and water scarcity affecting the horticulture sector. The workshop aims to promote climate-smart and regenerative horticulture practices, explore innovative post-harvest management strategies, and strengthen market access through improved value chains. Experts, policymakers, and practitioners will discuss the role of rural banking, financial inclusion, and policy frameworks to build a resilient horticulture ecosystem.

Key discussions will include strategies for climate-resilient farming and sustainable crop production, implementation of efficient post-harvest management to minimize food loss, and leveraging indigenous knowledge for climate adaptation. Additionally, the workshop will focus on strengthening financial resilience and enhancing credit access for farmers. These topics are crucial for adapting to the evolving environmental and economic landscape, ensuring a sustainable and productive future for the horticulture sector.

CEHSI, operating under the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), focuses on skill development, capacity building, and policy advocacy to empower the horticulture sector. The institution works under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), aiming to foster collaboration between governments, industry, academia, and farmers. This workshop promises to be a pivotal platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge and explore practical solutions for a sustainable and productive horticulture future.
