UPL appoints new Brazil CEO

28 May 2021, New Delhi: UPL announced the arrival of the new CEO of its operation in Brazil, Rogério Castro.

The appointment is part of the company’s global transformation process, which will include the re-appointment of the current CEO in Brazil, Fábio Torretta, to the position of Chair of Global Head of Sustainable Solutions at UPL.

With over 30 years of experience in agribusiness, Castro has a degree in agronomy from the Federal University of Lavras, as well as a certificate in financial accounting from Fundação Getulio Vargas. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Between 2011 and 2019, he was Head of Business at UPL in Brazil.

“UPL is one of the largest agricultural solutions companies in Brazil, a country that is also the company’s largest market in the world. Our challenge is to maintain this growth,” said Castro in a note.

Torretta, in turn, focuses on developing strategies to promote innovations of natural origin to protect crops, in addition to improving the resilience of plants, increasing crop yields, enhancing plant health and ensuring the sustainability of production systems on a macro level, UPL stressed.
