Exclusive Interview with Mr. Roger Tripathi, CEO and Co-Founder of Global BioAg Linkages.
03 January 2025, New Delhi: The BioAgTech World Congress 2025, a premier global event focused on advancing sustainable agricultural practices, is set to take place in India, bringing together innovators, policymakers, farmers, and industry leaders.
In this exclusive interview, Roger Tripathi, CEO and Co-Founder of Global BioAg Linkages, shares insights into the inspiration behind the Congress, its evolution, and what attendees can look forward to in the 2025 edition.
Passionate about sustainable agriculture, Roger has worked across multiple sectors, including forestry, chemicals, fertilizers, and biological solutions. At Global BioAg Linkages, Roger focuses on linking green agriculture companies globally, promoting innovation, commercialization, and partnerships to transform agriculture into a sustainable and profitable sector.
- What inspired you to establish the BioAgTech World Congress, and how has the event evolved over the years to address global agricultural challenges?
The inspiration for the BioAgTech World Congress comes from my deep passion for transforming agriculture into a more sustainable and profitable sector for farmers globally. My industry friends and I had the vision to create a dynamic networking platform that not only shares and showcases the latest innovations but also brings together key players in the industry to collaborate and tackle the pressing challenges in agriculture.
Over the years, the event has evolved into a true “game-changer” with both B2B and B2C target audiences, and by focusing on tangible outcomes for all participants through the involvement of all main stakeholders. We have expanded its global reach and introduced elements that directly address regional needs and link global solution providers, making it a unique, result-oriented experience for all stakeholders.
BAW Congress is a global BioAg event that moves each year to a new ecosystem, a new continent, with new farming needs, innovations, opportunities, and alliances and is organized with local stakeholders for the best regional mix which truly makes it by the industry for the industry event.
- What can attendees expect from the 2025 Congress in terms of key themes, innovations, and networking opportunities? How will this year’s event stand out from previous editions?
For the 2025 Congress, attendees can look forward to sessions covering critical topics, learning about innovations in the industry, and making meaningful connections. “Big Picture Day” on day 1 will discuss the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, critical success factors for the BioAg industry, and challenges and opportunities for sustainable farming practices with small farmers.
Followed by “Business Day” on day 2 focusing on collaboration opportunities and a match making round table between investors and investment seekers in the BioAg segment.
Day 3 is the “Innovation Day” showcasing cutting-edge innovation in biotic, abiotic stress management, soil and plant health, water efficiency management, etc. High-quality papers are received for Day 3 presentations, out of which only 15 papers are selected by the judges. Speakers present the USPs of their innovations and the winner of the BioAg Pioneering BioAgTech Innovation Awards is chosen by public voting and awarded same evening. The Expo and networking events offer opportunities to connect with various stakeholders including global thought leaders, industry innovators, and policymakers.
This year, the BAW Congress 2025 is being organized in India. The Indian BioAg sector is rapidly growing at a CAGR of 6.4%. We see and benchmark the growth of the Brazilian BioAg sector; India is not there yet but holds immense growth potential. With the right government policies and market strategy, India can unleash its BioAg growth potential. With BAW Congress 2025 in India, we bring global diaspora for information sharing, meaningful discussions, and creating the right networks for Indian stakeholders to strengthen the BioAg.
- Who should attend the BioAgTech World Congress? Are there specific benefits tailored to different stakeholders, such as farmers, industry leaders, and policymakers?
The BioAgTech World Congress is designed for anyone passionate about shaping the future of agriculture. We bring together four main pillars of an interdependent ecosystem of a sustainable farming community i.e. farmers, innovators (companies), retailers, and agronomists (extension workers).
Whether you are a farmer looking for proven, cost-effective solutions, an industry leader seeking to stay ahead of market trends, or a policymaker working to implement sustainable practices, the BAW Congress has something tailored for you. Farmers will benefit from exposure to innovative technologies and best practices, industry leaders will find opportunities to expand their market reach and policymakers will gain insights into creating frameworks that support agricultural sustainability and profitability.
- How does the Congress contribute to the global adoption and integration of bio-pesticides, bio-stimulants, and sustainable practices in agriculture, especially in regions with untapped potential like Asia?
The BAW Congress and other BAW platform tools such as BAW Digest, Academy, and Advisory are all conceptualized and developed to create globally local linkages, create awareness, and share and transfer knowledge at the farmers’ level for integrated sustainable farming practices, using BioAg products. This globally regional nature of the BAW Congress, moving continents each year and hosting the congress in the BioAg epicenters such as India, Spain, Brazil, and the USA, proactively plays a pivotal role in advancing the global adoption of BioAg technologies by connecting innovators with regions that have untapped consumption potential or exciting innovations.
Through workshops, roundtables, panels, case studies, and knowledge-sharing sessions, we aim to bridge the gap between technology providers and end-users. Our regional panels and focus groups address specific challenges, ensuring that solutions are not just theoretical but applicable and scalable. The Congress acts as a catalyst, driving awareness and adoption while fostering collaboration across the supply chain.
- What are the primary goals of the 2025 Congress, and how do you measure its success in fostering innovation, collaboration, and adoption of BioAg solutions globally?
The primary goals of the 2025 Congress are to foster innovation, enhance collaboration, and accelerate the adoption of sustainable BioAg solutions worldwide. Success for us is the right mix of quantity and quality. We look at metrics like the diversity of participants, the quality of discussions, and how well the event contributes to advancing global agricultural practices.
This year we are expecting over 1,300++ attendees from more than 60++ countries, from 220++ companies. Feedback from farmers and stakeholders on the real-world impact of the solutions and their learnings from the Congress drives us to go the extra mile. We ensure that every attendee leaves the Congress feeling inspired, informed, and ready to make a difference. If you follow our congresses, you will notice that we have adapted, tweaked, and improved each year, based on the attendees’ feedback, because we truly are ‘by the industry for the industry’.
Also, we understand that discussions held at the BAW Congress have wealth of knowledge and capture those in the form of whitepapers published in the BAW Digest sharing it with everyone interested to learn and thrive in the BioAg. At this point, I must applaud the genuine and tangible efforts, your magazine and the entire organization is making towards farmer centricity, let us keep doing the good work together.
