05 June 2021, Punjab: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar, organized a Webinar on ‘World Milk day’ on June 01, 2021.The webinar was conducted under the guidance of the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana.
Dr. G.S. Makkar, Deputy Director (Trg.), KVK, Ropar extended a warm welcome to the participating farmers/ farm women and scientists. Dr. Makkar briefed the history of world milk day and elaborated importance of milk in human nutrition. Dr. Makkar highlighted the key concerns about milk adulteration and motivated the dairy farmers for the production of chemical/ adulterant free quality milk.
Sh G. S. Kahlon, Deputy Director, Dairy Development Department Ropar, made participants aware about the nutritive qualities milk and elaborated the scope of milk processing as an enterprise.
Sh. Harpreet Singh, Dairy Development Inspector, Dairy Development Department Training Centre, Chatamali shared details about various techniques for detection of milk adulteration and made participants aware about departmental facilities for detection of adulteration.
Dr. Aparna, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production), KVK, Ropar shared information about calf starter and milk replacer technologies for judicious use of milk in calf rearing
The programme ended with an interactive session in which all doubts and queries of the participants were addressed.
