ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack celebrates its 77th Foundation Day and Dhan Diwas
29 April 2022, New Delhi: ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, Odisha celebrated its 77th Foundation Day and Dhan Diwas here today.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) was present as the Special Guest during the Cultural Programme “Madhuram” organized on the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati, Maharashtra regarded the conservation of soil & water resources as the keys to improve and sustain the farm productivity. He also urged the participating farmers and Farmers’ Leaders to come forward & support the activities for addressing the farm problems and realizing the achievable outputs in the near future. Dr. Pathak also delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on “Climate Change and Agriculture: IPCC 6th Assessment Report and Beyond’’ during the occasion.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Dipankar Maiti, Former Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack stressed on timely availability of the quality seeds, changing pattern of insect-pests, vagaries of weather in farm production and necessity of proper linkages among the organizations engaged in the development of the farm sector.
Dr. Padmini Swain, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack stated about the Institute’s significant achievements, especially, on the recently released (in 2021) varieties and their suitability for the different ecologies. The role of ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack in terms of the varietal development, evolving methods of soil health maintenance, package of practices, agricultural mechanization, quality control of rice, insect-pest control and the outreach programmes towards the betterment of the farmer’s community were also underlined by her.
The Senior Officials of ICAR Institutes along with about 200 Farmers and Farm Women from Odisha, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand participated in the event.
