“Focus Group Discussion with Insurance Companies for Re-introduction of Shrimp Crop Insurance in India” organized
23 March 2022, New Delhi: The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai organized the “Focus Group Discussion with Senior Officials from Oriental Insurance and Alliance Insurance Brokers for facilitating the re-introduction of the Shrimp Crop Insurance in India” today.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai stressed on the need for the Shrimp Crop Insurance. He stated that the disease risks can wipe out the working capital of the small farmers in just one crop loss which needs five successive good crops to restore. Therefore, the role of the Crop Insurance is very important for ensuring the economic sustainability of the sector.
Ms. Shelly Dheer, Deputy General Manager & Shri Safia Patel, Chief Regional Manager, Oriental Insurance and Shri A. Srinivasan, Vice-President, Shri K.V. Pathasarathy, Chief Manager & Shri Kuldeep Bhadekar, Assistant Vice-President (Agricultural Insurance) underlined the various technical and insurance aspects pertaining to the Shrimp Farming.
