FICCI’s conducts 10th Agrochemical Conference 2021on Sustainable Growth of Agrochemical Industry

23 September 2021, New Delhi: FICCI’s 10 Agrochemical conference was held today focusing on sustainable growth of the Agrochemical Industry in India. Mr. R G Agarwal, Chairman, FICCI Crop Protection Committee & Group Chairman, Dhanuka Agritech Ltd. mentioned the need of controlling spurious agrochemical being sold in the Indian market. He stressed on the need on bringing in strong regulation for the registration of Agrochemicals in India so as to make it difficult for fly by night operators who are ruining the image of agrochemical sector in India. 

The chief guest for the event, Union Agriculture Minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar addressed the audience through video conferencing on the importance of Agriculture in India and the sector in helping economy during COVID-19 pandemic. The government is constantly promoting the sector and building strong base for the farming community to make the country strong in agriculture production, doubling farmers’ income and promoting exports to newer markets across the globe.

Professor Ramesh Chand, Member, NITI Ayog, Government of India mentioned the importance of applying integrated approach in managing crop production. He also stressed on the importance of investment in research and and bring out new technology for the farmers. 

Guest of honour, Mr. Bhagwanth Khuba, Minister of State, Ministry Of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India spoke on the importance of the Agrochemical / Crop protection sector and its role in  improving crop production. 

A Knowledge Report on Agrochemicals Industry 2021 was released by the chief guests during the event highlighting the theme of the event “Expediting the growth of Agrochemicals Industry for Self- Reliant India. The report put together jointly by FICCI and PWC provides an overview of the progress that Indian agriculture has made since the post independence era and factors that have helped in achieving the same.
