Farmer field day for pesticide residue management in grapes at Nashik
05 April 2023, New Delhi: A field day was organized by ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes and IPL Biologicals Limited, Gurugram at Karsul in Nashik last week under the project “Bio-intensive management of disease and pest for production of pesticide residue compliant grapes”.
A special highlight of the program was the distribution of safety kits by the Pesticide Manufacturers and Formulators Association of India (PMFAI) to the growers to protect them from the effect of pesticides while spraying. PMFAI has been supporting ICAR-NRCG regarding the safe use of pesticides and several other extension works.
Around 80 grape growers attended the program. Dr. Sujoy Saha, Principal Scientist and PI of the project,Dr.N.A.Deshmukh, Senior Scientist, Dr. D.S. Yadav, Senior Scientist, of ICAR-NRCG, Mr. Anil Chitnis, Zonal Manager and Dr. Narendra Pal, Agronomist of IPL Biologicals were present in the meeting.
Dr. Saha in his address said that the project will be extended to other regions as well in a PPP mode. An update about the institute’s app ‘Grape Advisory’ was also given to the growers. In his message, Dr. Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG said that safe food is one of the mandates of the Government and judicious use of pesticides along with biocontrol agents is one of the methods to achieve so.
