05 March 2025, Raipur: Dr. Anil Dixit, Joint Director of ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur, has been honored with the prestigious Norman E. Borlaug Award for his outstanding contributions to agricultural sciences. The award was presented during the valedictory session of the 5th International Agri Conference (NUTRIENT-2025), held on February 20-21, 2025.
The conference, themed “Navigating Unique Trends in Agricultural Research, Innovations, Engineering, Nutrition, and Technology,” was jointly organized by Agri Meet Foundation Bharat, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and other institutions. Dr. S.S. Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU Ludhiana, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Anil Dixit also served as the Guest of Honour at the international conference, which was hosted by BGGI, Sangrur, Punjab, affiliated with IKG Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala.
Prominent dignitaries, including Dr. Tanuja Shrivastava, Director of BGGI Sangrur, and Dr. Ankur Sharma, Chief Secretary of Agri Meet Foundation Bharat, represented the organizers. The conference witnessed the participation of over 400 researchers, who presented their work on recent advancements in agriculture and education.
A Distinguished Career in Agricultural Sciences
Dr. Dixit was recognized for his exceptional contributions spanning over 31 years in agricultural sciences. His expertise in agronomy, integrated weed management, and herbicide technologies has significantly advanced weed management strategies across major crop systems in India. He has developed 20 weed management recommendations and has held key positions as a member/chairman for various national and international assignments.
His work includes the development of a national monograph, the Weed Atlas (two volumes), which has been widely appreciated by policymakers. Dr. Dixit has also played a crucial role in linking scientists with farmers, ensuring the effective transfer of agricultural technologies to end-users.
Awards and Recognitions
Dr. Dixit has been honored with four prestigious fellowships from national and international academies. He has over 300 publications to his credit and was previously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to agricultural research. In addition, he has received the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed ICAR National Award for his outstanding research in tribal farming in the Chhattisgarh region.
