Area-Specific Software Template for Model Integrated Farming across Six Agro-Climatic Regions of West Bengal

07 February 2022, New Delhi: The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata organized the Virtual Launching Programme of Formulation of Area Development Schemes and Development of Area-Specific Software Template for Model Integrated Farming across Six Agro-Climatic Regions of West Bengal” today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Swarup Kumar Chakrabarti, Vice-Chancellor, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Pundibari, Cooch Behar, Kolkata appreciated to take-up such unique Project for developing the strategies of integrated farming for the different agro-climatic regions that would enable adequate employment and income generation, especially, for the smallholder farmers in West Bengal.

Dr. S.K. Roy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata highlighted the importance of integrated farming for doubling the farmers’ income in West Bengal.

Shri Awadesh Kumar, General Manager, NABARD, Kolkata emphasized that developing a software template would give a pictorial view of the customized integrated farming based on the farmers’ demand, available resources including the potential combination of the components and also provide a clear view of the possible return to the farmers for well understanding.

A total of 34 dignitaries including Directors of Extension Education of State Agriculture Universities; Senior Scientists and Heads of different KVKs of West Bengal and District Development Managers of NABARD of West Bengal attended the programme.
