Ibrahim Saleh joins IFPRI as the new Director of Finance and Administration Unit
05 February 2025, USA: The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is pleased to announce that Ibrahim Saleh joins IFPRI as the new Director of Finance and Administration Unit, starting February 3, 2025.
“Ibrahim is an outstanding finance professional, and I am delighted to welcome him back to IFPRI,” said Johan Swinnen, IFPRI Director General. During his previous nine years at IFPRI (2013–2022), Ibrahim held various positions within the Finance and Administration Division, including the role of IFPRI’s Controller from 2016 to 2022. He spent the past two years serving as Controller at USA for UNHCR—a nonprofit organization that raises funds from the American public to support the UN Refugee Agency, helping to establish a comprehensive in-house accounting function and managing a significant influx of small individual donations prompted by global crises, including the Ukraine conflict and the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
Ibrahim is taking over from James Fields, IFPRI’s Director of Finance and Administration of over 10 years, who will be retiring on March 31, 2025. “On behalf of all of us at IFPRI, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to James for his excellent service and guidance to IFPRI for over the past 23 years and wish him the very best as he embarks on his well-deserved retirement,” said Swinnen.
