03 February 2025, New Delhi: In a ground-breaking partnership, HarvestPlus, HarvestPlus Solutions, and Sir Vithaldas Thackersey (SVT) College of Home Science have teamed up to tackle India’s pressing malnutrition challenge. By combining innovation, research, and nutrition education, the partnership aims to harness the transformative potential of biofortification to empower communities and improve nutritional outcomes in India.

The partnership seeks to raise awareness about the role of biofortification in addressing malnutrition through cutting-edge research and community outreach. By combining research with education and community engagement, this collaboration has the potential to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable groups, such as young children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, and help build a healthier future for generations to come.

Professor (Dr). Jagmeet Madan, Director Research, Innovation Consultancy and Collaboration Centre (RICCC) of SVT College of Home Sciences said, “A healthy nation begins with ensuring food and nutrition security for the most vulnerable groups, as it forms the foundation for our country’s future. Biofortification, with nutrient-dense food, is key to this progress. By combining it with strong nutrition education, we can empower communities to make small but impactful changes. Ongoing research will help us measure the effectiveness of these efforts. The partnership is a crucial step forward in achieving these goals.”
